Paradise Lost?

Is it possible to love a place as much as you love a person? I ask because I’ve been dating paradise for 20+ years now.  I was first introduced to her by some good friends.  From our first encounter I was drawn to her beauty and warmth.  She had a welcoming embrace and was always willing to share herself with us.  Over the years we have collected countless memories for me and my family. A few years ago I began chronicling some of those memories of my time with paradise on this blog.  I was just looking back at some of those previous post about a month ago.  I thought I should convert them to a hard cover book for a keepsake item to those who have shared paradise with me over the years.  Don’t get me wrong this is not the last chapter by any means but maybe just my first edition. Our relationship has always been somewhat of a long distance one.  I check in on her from time to time and try to get down to see her at least once a year.  Whi...

Another week of "BS" in the books. We all deal with "BS" in some form or fashion. It might be with health, financial, relationships, work, or politics. You name it, there are a multitude of things out there that from time to time can become a total load of Crap.  If we choose to let it, it will consume us and become the overwhelming way we look at life. I'm as guilty as most about letting things get in the way of my thinking from time to time, but that's not who I strive to be.  I want to find that flower that has grown out of that load of crap.  Look for the lemonade from the lemons, find the light in the darkness. That is why my theme for this week's blog focused on "BS".  The good kind, like B each and S unsets the things that make you smile. The things that fill your heart with joy and the memories you build that will hopefully last a lifetime not just for you but for those you touch as well. As we were driving home this week, the girls i...

Hump Days are "BS"

Image
With all the "BS" going on this week, things really got away from me.  So I'm going to have to lump some things together this year.  I know for most of you, Hump Day is a good thing, but when you're on vacation it's pretty much "BS".  It signifies that point in the week when vacation is on the downhill slide.  It has been a good week, and the fact that it will be over soon is of course total "BS".   B each  S nacks On Wednesday, we ran into an old acquaintance on the beach.  He's a shady character, has a long list of priors, and I believe he's even a jail bird.  This dude can make off with personal items and snacks quicker than you can say  "Nacho Cheese Doritos".  He stalk s you from afar and when the timing is right swoops in to commit his crime.  If you are ever down here, be on the lookout! Did someone say "Snacks!" B racelets from the S ea The shells have not been very plentiful this week.  That's the price ...

How Do You Handle your "BS"?

Image
You know if there is a "BS" day of the week most of you would probably agree its Mondays.  Except for my retired friends they don't have a "BS" day for them everyday is a Saturday! B each & S oaking in the Gulf Monday was a perfect beach day the gulf was calm so no worries about the "BBSBS" flairing up.  I went out early to install the Sun Shade.  I got a surprise when I reached my destination.  Overnight a turtle had come ashore right near where we have been sitting on the beach this week.  In all the years coming here I never saw an actual turtle crawl.  I have always seen the results of their visit when the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation would stake out the nesting site and place "Do Not disturb signs".   There are currently 3 active nesting sites near where we are on the beach. The best way to explain what a crawl looks like would be to describe it as tractor tire tracks.  From the size and spacing of these tracks I wou...

Some of today's "BS"

Today we started our day with some "BS".   B reakfast & S trawberry Preserves Our usual opening parlay into a week of eating out and consuming adult beverages. No better place to start than the Lighthouse Cafe. The crowds seem a little lighter this year.  Not sure why but I know people are dealing with a lot of "BS".  Hopefully my "BS" this week will make you smile. Waitress comes to the table "Hi you all ready to order."  Me: "You kidding I been waiting a year for this" I could go on and on about my breakfast choice but you've heard that before.  Today we'll focus on something else that the Lighthouse does really well.  They make their own strawberry preserves and serve it in a little container.  Take that hot buttered toast and dip it in there.  OMG it's pure heaven. We can't leave Sanibel without taking a few of jars home every year.  It's kinda become a tradition. Lighthouse Cafe "Beach Angel Approved...

We'll try to keep those to a minimun this week and focus on the sweeter things like making great memories with NaNa & PaPa. LET THE "BS" BEGIN PS I know short blog and no pictures but hang with me I'm just getting started.  By the way Happy Anniversary NaNa another year down lets make our 46th year filled with great memories befo...
