Beach Angel turns 10
So today is Lexi birthday! For her birthday she was given the present of a perfect beach morning.
Calmest water we've seen all week. The sky was filled with sunshine and the ocean was full of sailboats, paddle boaters, Parasails, pelicans, people and even a manatee.
It was just like when you have a bad round of golf somewhere during the round you hit a great shot and its enough to make you want to come back and do it again. Today was that good shot!
Around 1:00 the sky opened up and we made a hasty retreat to the house but it was ok because Lexi dinner of choice for her birthday was where else but Cheeburger Cheeburger. This little 60# is going to tackle the monster burger. She determined to get her picture on the wall. I don't classify Lexi as a big eater but to all of our astonishment she polished that thing off. She challenged Don to take on the one pounder and he didn't disappoint. So early dinner and back to the house to begin packing things up.
We did have a few casualties this week. I left the beach canopy up today while we made the hasty retreat back to the house at 1:00 so when we got back I went down to the beach to take it down. It was pretty much a mangled mess. I told Carol earlier in the week I didn't know how many beach trips the old canopy had left. Looks like this was the last one.
Carol also toasted her water camera this week. We'll try to post some of the pictures once we get back home if I can pull anything off the card.
We did manage to check out the fireworks last night. We followed Scotts advice and tried the causeway. We took two vehicles into down dropped one off on the causeway and went to dinner in the second vehicle. The plan was then to take the Beach Angels Rachelle(Daughter) and Don back to their car where they would check out the fireworks. When we got done with dinner we took them back and there was another parking spot next to them so Carol and I stayed also.
The fireworks were good and the preshow was interesting. Pre-show you ask, yes it was sponsored by some unnamed alcoholic beverage I'm sure. Apparently one of the causeway visitors got into a fight with another broken beer bottles, blood and crying children. What a shame. The causeway kinda reminds me of party cove back at Lake of the Ozarks. I must say the officer down here are pretty low key there was a ton of them and the culprits left but I didn't see anybody get put in cuffs or go to jail. I can now cross seeing fireworks on Sanibel off my list. Ok it wasn't really on my list but I crossed it off anyway.
I will post again once we get back home with pictures and some video of fireworks sorry no videos of the fight!

Did we ever have a discussion about Lake of the Ozarks? That's where I spent my summers as a kid. When you get back home I'd like to talk with you about that.
Happy birthday to the birthday girl!
I can't believe your trip is over already!! Sounds like you had the same problem I did with the camera. Mine just won't come on, and am currently trying to decide whether to take it to Best Buy or send it to panasonic. I really think I mistreated it, and I'm so disappointed!!
Thanks for taking us along on your journey....it always seems to go so fast doesn't it?? 2 weeks is about right!!
BTW....I thought of a couple of names for our place on Captiva...Shelllady's Solitude or Shelllady and Junonia Jim! Whatcha think??
Safe travels to you and your family RC!!
Carol had the camera out in ocean she took a direct hit from a wave that took her for a ride. I think the force was too much for the little camera
RC.....good news....for me anyway...maybe help to you too!! I just got off of the phone with panasonic about my water camera, it has a reset and it worked!!! At least I think so, the battery was down too much to stay on but it came on! It may be an issue with the battery or just run down because i had the gps feature on!! If you have a panasonic let me know and I'll let you know how to reset it!! Wooohoooo! I hope this works because I LOVE this camera!!
